I enjoyed it very much. Great location, good instruction, a nice group of people, etc. The instructor asked good questions to get a sense of where each of us were at and what we wanted to work on. Felt inspired! It was also a very relaxing experience.

This painting is called Splendor in the Grass with Santa. This is a wine stain painting. I poured red wine on watercolor paper, let it dry, and l looked for images of people, animals, or objects. I outlined the wine with black ink and then painted the images with watercolors. This time I saw the snail shell right away, as well as the partial image of a dog. Then, suddenly, there was Santa, so I put them all in the grass to luxuriate together.I started splashing wine on paper about five ye

I was inspired to sketch this based on a photo that I saw. Her face seemed so serene and the title ?a peace that surpasses all understanding ? came to mind. I love working with charcoal and felt that it would be a greater medium to express this idea. I, personally, wish that everyone could experience a peace and serenity such as this sketch displays.

This painting is called Floral Fantasy 5. I pour red wine on watercolor paper, let it dry overnight, and then I look for images of people, animals, or objects. The wine tells me what to paint. Every painting is completely unique. I outline the wine with black ink and then paint the images with watercolors. I started splashing wine on paper about five years ago and enjoy the excitement of never knowing what I?m going to paint until one of the splashes looks like something recognizable to me

The score was inspired by my recent birthday. I just turned 62 and, as it goes, being in your 60s some would suggest that you are past your prime. I would argue that when you are in your 60s, you?re just getting started. This piece suggest that even though she is an older woman, her hair, which is most women?s crown and glory, is suggesting that she is young and has a lot more to do. She has grace and style. She is someone who can?t wait to see what her 90s will bring. I had so much fun drawi

Oils on 56cm x 46cm canvas. Large for me!A larger canvas really does provide a wonderful opportunity to dive into the textures and subtleties of the lion cub's fur, and those expressive little details?like the way its eyes catch the light. Oils allows you to layer and blend, giving more depth and ability to play with the softness of the fur.

Winter?s grip on the Straits of Mackinac slowly melts away with each passing day of warm sunshine. The ice cover gradually retreats with the approaching spring and renewal of another shipping season on the Great Lakes.
