I enjoyed it very much. Great location, good instruction, a nice group of people, etc. The instructor asked good questions to get a sense of where each of us were at and what we wanted to work on. Felt inspired! It was also a very relaxing experience.

I used a page from a book my daughter had gotten me: The Bible Promise Book! The drawing is an acetate print by Dina Wakely. I fingerpainted the paper page, trying to guess what color should go where, then glued her face down - and it actually worked!

Title or Location: View from Gambrill state Park
This is one of my recent plein air oil paintings. I drove from Baltimore to the top of the mountains above Frederick whenever I had a free day over the course of a few weeks to capture this scene before the season changed. I met a lot of interesting people who came up to enjoy the view. Setting up an easel on top of a mountain can be a great conversation starter. Some local hikers told me about some secret spots to check out as well which was a plus!

Title or Location: Proud Mary in a yellow sweater.
Proud Mary came to me when I was thinking of the symbolism of the peony and the owl, and what they mean to me. Birds and flowers are regular features in my paintings. In this painting, the Peony for me, symbolized beauty, femininity and elegance, as well as love, but yet I painted Mary to appear strong and sure footed. To me, she embodies all of those qualities. In addition, the owl, in my painting, symbolizes, wisdom, as well as the ability to see through darkness, as their eye are known for

Title or Location: The Girls
This is Isla, Ellie and Millie. Oil on canvas 27.5 inches x 39.5. They are my friends daughters. I often ask how 'the girls' are doing and there's always a funny story. Isla is full of mischief. Ellie is the sassy budding artist and Millie is a 'little devil' in the best way. I thought it was important to try and capture each of their personalities by working and finishing one at a time. They are beautiful girls. This was a pleasure to paint and I feel it has really tested my ability. I've defin

Title or Location: Memories of Bassano Del Grappa
A beautiful town in northern Italy - a town who protected partisans during WW2 and suffered the loss of all men and boys as retribution. Today it still bears the marks of war on the walls of the town, with the wooden bridge having been rebuilt a number of times due to war. This mosaic commission was created for a much happier reason, to commemorate a long held friendship between two families, here in Australia and there in Italy. Entirely created with hand cut pieces of glass.
